Igor Rakov
Central Asia, b. 1961
Born and raised in Kazakhstan, Igor travelled and worked throughout Europe and Central Asia, exploring their cultures and historical heritage. Slow-paced old towns and sleepy summer gardens are his favourite spaces for reflection and inspiration. This is where he comes up with his best ideas for his art.
Igor has a unique style of painting. Even though his work resembles the traditional impressionist technique, he does not like to be called an impressionist but prefers to be referred to as an expressionist. His works are full of life and vibrant colours, featuring urban life, the streets, its people, landscapes, and flowers. The visible brush strokes, unusual compositions, emphasis on colours, and emotions makes his artworks unique in this genre.
Igor uses various techniques to relay different aspects of expression but mainly works with oil and canvas. His paintings are exhibited at international exhibitions and art fairs on many continents. Most of his paintings are purchased for private collections in the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East.
